Perhaps you’ve wondered about the principal ways the Garden tangibly delivers its Mission of celebrating, cultivating and conserving our region’s rich botanical heritage and biodiversity? Those ways are through education, community service, presentation of the arts and sustainable management of the Garden.
For nearly 9 months we’ve worked to design, budget and fundraise for the Garden’s step to match its plants by having 100% of our electric needs powered by the Sun.
Due to a partnership with Positive Energy Solar (PES), and the generosity of a Garden supporter, those efforts are being rewarded by the soon to occur installation of a moveable, ground mounted solar array rated at 8KW, which will offset 100% of our current power requirements.
PES is the ideal partner for the Garden, as the #1 customer reviewed installer in NM, with over 3,500 installations. Additionally, PES is employee owned and a Certified B Corp (Certified Benefit Corporations meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance people, planet, and profit).
For a limited time, PES is offering a $500 referral fee to the Garden for any new customer who learned of PES from us and enters into a solar installation contract for their home or business, which three persons have thus far elected to do. Simply say, “I learned about PES from the Garden” and their team will inform us of another potential referral fee.
It’s truly a “win-win”, when taking the step to install solar is both good for the climate and financially sound. The PES team is eager to help create a design that fits your needs and your pocketbook.
Above is an image of the solar array to be installed, just a few feet from the existing large Garden shed. The project is anticipated to be operational by mid-May. Come visit and take a look at another way your Garden is “walking its talk”. Many thanks.
