To the Santa Fe Botanical Garden community,
As most of you are aware, the Garden has managed the Leonora Curtin Wetland Preserve (the “Wetland Preserve”) since 1993 under consecutive leases from the property’s owner, El Rancho de las Golondrinas. We have served as its manager on a basis consistent with the Garden’s mission to celebrate, cultivate, and conserve the rich botanical heritage and biodiversity of our region. Las Golondrinas has informed the Garden that it will be moving in a different direction in connection with the Wetland Preserve and that it therefore will not renew its lease with the Garden for 2022. We respect that decision and wish Las Golondrinas well as it takes over responsibility for the Wetland Preserve.
We are grateful to Garden community, including the conservation partners and community scientists, volunteers and docents, and the thousands of public guests and students who have assisted us in celebrating and conserving this beautiful and environmentally significant site.
Because of your support, participation and engagement, the Garden continues to carefully follow a course designed to advance its impact as a respected and valued community asset. We invite you to follow us on Clippings, our monthly e-newsletter and via all our social media outlets. We will continue to keep you informed about the wide range of opportunities to join in as we actively pursue the Garden’s Mission. We look forward to seeing you soon and often at our Museum Hill site as we continue to focus on enhancing the visitor experience for every person on every visit.
Thank you.
