Join us for a captivating, multi-media performance of THE MOTH PROJECT in the Garden’s amphitheater on Saturday, September 16th from 6:30pm-9:00pm.
THE MOTH PROJECT is a spectacular, interactive show by GRAMMY nominated musician and composer, Peter Kiesewalter, that features Western and Indigenous mythologies, and a personal story of a family’s journey from post-war Europe to North America, exploring the multiple ways we connect to our ecosystem. Set against diverse theatrical, electronic music influenced by avant-garde artist, Laurie Anderson, with Kiesewalter on keyboard and Whitney La Grange on violin, THE MOTH PROJECT creates a one-of-a-kind performance. Stunning over-sized imagery of moths paint the background during the performance, including large-scale work by Jim Des Rivieres, the late renowned moth photographer known as “Moth Man.”
From Bach to Joni Mitchell to KISS to original songs, Kiesewalter and La Grange’s music reflects the incredible diversity of the moth species and explores the common themes between us and them – migration, seduction, death, transformation, hope.
There will be light hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and sparkling waters served to guests.
