Digging Deeper: Honoring a Legacy: The David Salman Tribute Garden
David Salman was a horticulturist and plantsman of extraordinary talent and influence. He generously shared his curiosity and knowledge about plants through his skills as a nurseryman, educator, and passionate advocate for gardening styles and plant choices appropriate to the high, dry West.
After Salman passed away in 2022 a movement started to create a public garden to honor Salman and his contributions to horticulture. The Santa Fe Botanical Garden created a space and helped with planning to bring this memorial garden to life. Many of the marvelous plants we all now love and include in our own gardens are Salman introductions: hummingbird mints, salvias, cold hardy cacti, and more.
In this program we will dig deeper into the many beautiful and water-wise David Salman plants we have in our Tribute Garden, and we’ll talk about David Salman and his influence on Western gardening.
