December 2022
After several “quiet” holiday seasons, the Santa Fe Botanical Garden celebrated 2022 with a “Night Tree” event inspired by Eve Bunting’s book of the same name.
Farolitos and lights decorated the winter garden, families enjoyed activities with natural crafts, many gathered together around the warmth of the fire in horno, and audiences were delighted by the holiday readings by Santa Fe Classic Theater in the Pavilion.
There was a members-only night on Dec. 15 and a free community event on Dec. 16 that attracted more than 600 visitors. If you were unable to visit, take a few minutes now to enjoy the Garden and the artwork displayed there in a different light. If you were among those who dropped by, you can revisit the experience in the warmth of your own homes! (It was in the upper teens the night of the community event!) Happy Holidays!

Volunteers Made it Possible!
Nearly 50 volunteers and approximately 200 hours (by the time it’s all packed up!) helped in every aspect of this year’s holiday lights events. Our volunteers started in November and took on every job including installing lights, making ornaments, serving refreshments, directing traffic & parking, popping popcorn, turning on hundreds of LED tealights, greeting visitors, tending to firepits, carrying out the trash, and cleaning up after everyone had left – in the freezing temperatures – with huge smiles and wonderful spirits.
Thank you to Santa Fe Classic Theater!
Everyone loved hearing favorite holiday stories read by the talented actors from Santa Fe Classic Theater – bravo! Mark your calendars and be sure to not miss them this coming July for Shakespeare in the Garden.
